a lake, a castle, and a flower shop...

For those of you who are missing photos of "natural beauty" on our trip, we did spend a few days by a pretty lake in the heart of Eastern Germany.

Lucy enjoyed having her photo taken - or maybe she was just happy to finally see a blue sky after days of rain!

Sophia was less amused by my attempts to make family photos.

I love how the colors of this beach house glow in the late afternoon light against the blue sky.

After our few days of spending time in "nature," the girls were thrilled to find this giant, blinking, all plastic carousel in the little town of Waren.

I looked at my photos of Wismar this morning, which was a pleasant enough place - but I decided that all of my pictures are too boring and dreary to share - maybe I was just tired during our visit.

So we drove on through tree lined roads...

until we reached Schwerin with its utterly bombastic castle.

Amazing. We didn't go inside for the tour because the kids were grumpy that afternoon.

But we did discover the cutest little florist shop

which was called "Sunflower"

and had funky looking window displays that made me smile.

Tomorrow: Berlin! I'm looking forward to this one.
