We're off to South Africa today to visit with Heather Moore aka Skinny LaMinx! You know, spending Christmas at the beach doesn't sound like such a bad idea...
Hi I'm Heather Moore, and I live in Cape Town, South Africa. This year, we'll have my brother down from the subtropical east coast of the country, my parents-in-law from the farming midlands, and my husbands' mad red-headed cousins from Australia, so it's going to be a busy one.
Christmas in South Africa is a bit topsy-turvy, as the weather's hot but the supermarkets are still full of Styrofoam snowflakes and the poor cashiers have to wear polarfleece Santa hats.
Our family is a bit more sensible, and although we enjoy lots of the Northern traditions and decorations, we don't cook big heavy dinners on the day. Instead, we make lots of yummy special salads (and the meat eaters dig in to ham and turkey), and usually spend the afternoon around the pool or at the beach.
Have a wonderful Christmas, wherever you are, and whatever the weather.
Thank you Heather for taking the time to share your traditions with us today :)
