My friends from Greece recommended that I make a day trip from Athens to the car free island of Hydra, and I'm so glad that I took their advice.
While I loved the lively, urban, grittiness of Athens, it was wonderful to escape to such a quiet place for a day.
The port was so picturesque, it didn't seem quite real.
There were donkeys waiting for the tourists for those who didn't want to travel by foot,
and the donkeys were also used by locals to transport everything you can imagine.
I loved wandering around the island
noticing the colorful windows and doors
and minimal, cubist architecture.
After all my wandering in the hot sun, I did as the locals do and enjoyed an iced coffee or "frappe"
and practiced relaxing like an island cat.
Thanks for sharing your vacation memories!
Where did you relax this summer?
