Focus + Completion + Euphoria + Passion

If I had to give my 2012 a title, it would be My Year of Chaos.

Lots of wonderful things happened: I had the opportunity to travel to beautiful European cities, I met many warm and friendly, generous artists in person, and I moved back to my true Soul City of Berlin.

At the same time, it was a year full of challenges, and I often struggled to keep up with all of my own "Big Plans for the Future."

I started several new and exciting projects - simultaneously - and I wasn't able to follow through on all of them as I would have liked. I wasn't able to meet my own expectations, and at the end of the year, I felt very worried that I couldn't meet the expectations and deadlines of many others as well.

The biggest disruption in My Year of Chaos was my cross country move to Berlin, which you can read more about here and here

Nevertheless, moving to Berlin was an important step for me because it is my true city of choice. This time, I was not simply following a job or a relationship or any of the other very legitimate reasons that one moves. Moving to Berlin was a personal choice based on love and a heartfelt connection to this place that I can't even completely understand myself.

But I can tell you: now that I'm sitting here in my Soul City at the beginning of the year, contemplating 2013 - it feels good!

And perhaps exactly because Berlin was a deep, intuitive decision, despite the many hardships and difficulties this past year offered, I have never seriously doubted my choice to move here, not even when the winter weather and darkness and rain descended here like a wet gray blanket that never leaves.

First of all, I will admit that my goal is to be much more focused and concentrated in 2013.

And I'm sure I will sound like a complete dork, but I think my new cool 2013 wall calendar might just save my sanity.

This week, I've been working with this new calendar - it has multi-colored dots that are removable like post-it notes - and brainstorming lots of ideas for new and continuing creative adventures.

The calendar shows all 12 months simultaneously, and I wonder why I didn't have a calendar like this before!

It's a great feeling to have an overview of the entire year and feel like: "What can I create this year?!" Like a fresh canvas waiting to be filled with color and imagination.

I want to will complete my 12 Countries project, and I also want to will create new books and e-courses and workshops in the hope of spreading more creativity and encouragement to others. (Keep your fingers crossed for me!)

Berlin also continues to give me daily inspiration. The ever present street art makes me smile, and the boundless energy simply crackles in the air.

Often I feel euphoric just walking down the street in Berlin, even on rainy days, and for the first time in years, I know I am in the right place at the right time.

Last year, much of my energy was zapped by all of the logistics and bureaucracy involved in moving, but this year I am already rediscovering a renewed sense of joy and passion for my creative projects.

I tried to think about a Special Word for 2013, and I couldn't come up with just one.

I'm going with "Focus + Completion + Euphoria + Passion" for 2013.

I want the focus necessary to complete all of my projects that are still "in process" and to develop the many new projects due to arrive soon.

I want to feel euphoric and passionate about my creative work again - and my life in general.

I want to learn to say "yes" when I feel elated and energetic about something, and the courage to say "no" or at least get some help when I'm feeling overwhelmed.

What do you want in 2013?

Almost every day, I get a new email or message from someone who writes to say they enjoyed my Creative Courage e-course and felt inspired to make more art, or start a blog, or enter an art show, or begin fulfilling their personal dreams.

I'm so grateful to everyone who took part during 2012 - from the women I've interviewed who've written several of the gorgeous books above, to our lovely participants from all over the world - from Siberia to Thailand to Brazil - 30+ countries and counting!

This amazing experience over the past year has truly surprised and delighted me, warmed my heart, made me feel blessed, and continues to give me true motivation to continue to develop our international community at Creative Courage. I'd love for you to join us.

I promise, there is much more to come in 2013 and beyond!

Do you have a special word/words or a personal theme for 2013?

I'd love to hear from you!
