When I first had the idea about offering a live Art Workshop in Berlin last year, I was a little bit nervous. I'd never done anything like this before and I had lots of normal worries: Will anyone sign up? Where should I rent a studio? What kind of art projects will will do? What will we do about meals? And so on and so on!
Yes, organizing and leading a live art workshop is a lot of work. A lot of work. There are many steps involved and a good bit of logistics to think about.
But offering my Berlin Art Workshops was one of the most rewarding things I did in 2014.
I adore teaching online classes, but there is nothing that can take the place of meeting people in person, talking, laughing, eating yummy food, and making art together!
Creative ladies came to our Berlin Art Workshops from Australia, Argentina, South Africa, Canada, the US, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and several cities in Germany.
It was an amazing experience gathering together with these lovely women from all over the globe.
Now I'm ready to host another art workshop in 2015 + I'd LOVE for you to join us in Berlin next June.
In our Berlin Art Workshop, you'll have fun making experimental artwork, get inspired by your new creative friends, enjoy tasty fresh foods - and I know that you'll fall in love with my true soul city too - vibrant, lively, unique Berlin!
If you've ever wanted create mixed media art, while soaking up European culture with a group of new international friends - my Berlin Art Workshop is the perfect opportunity for you.
Our next Berlin Art Workshop will take place June 19 - 21, 2015, and I can't wait.
Do I need to be an artist or have previous experience to take part in your workshop?
No experience is necessary for my workshops and all levels are welcome.
I believe that everyone is creative and that you are an artist too!
Our historic, light filled studio will provide you with a beautiful, supportive, encouraging, relaxed atmosphere to learn, work, and dream creatively.
It's a lovely space where you'll discover new techniques and have the chance to play with color, paint, collage, mixed media, stamps, stencils, and more.
What's our schedule for the 2015 Berlin Art Workshop?
We'll begin our wild art weekend on Friday, June 19th, 2015 with a welcome drink at one of my favorite cafes. You'll receive a special "made in Berlin" goody bag and have a chance to meet and say hello to other participants in a relaxed atmosphere.
On June 20th and 21st, 2015 our Berlin Art Workshop days together will be filled with plenty of creative studio time and more new + unusual art materials than you can imagine!
You'll find out about the most interesting museum and gallery exhibitions in Berlin, and I'll tell you all the insider tips about Berlin I know. June is a great time of year to visit Berlin, and there are many outdoor activities to enjoy too.
I'm a huge fan of Berlin, and I'm excited to share my love of this city with you!
Do I need to bring my own art materials?
All of your art materials are included in the workshop!
Our Berlin Art Workshop is focused on experimentation, play, trying out new techniques, mixed media, and collage. This session, we'll be working with some larger formats too - but we'll do it on paper so that your works are still easy to transport home :)
The only thing you need to bring is yourself, an open mind, and the desire for a creative adventure.
Read more about our detailed Berlin Art Workshop Itinerary for June 19th - 21st, 2015 here.
All participants will receive my specially prepared, 26 page Berlin guide to download in advance, which includes tons of interesting Berlin tips for cafes, restaurants, shopping, galleries, museums, day spas, travel tips and the best blogs and websites for Berlin, plus airport transfer info, and more.
We also have private Facebook group set up for workshop participants, so that you can say hello and connect with others in the group before you arrive in Berlin - and stay in touch afterwards if you'd like!
Where should I stay while visiting Berlin?
Berlin is a very affordable, relaxed city, and there is a great variety available for everyone's budget and taste.
Here are a few of my personal recommendations for lodging in Berlin, including a range of artsy bed and breakfasts, boutique hotels, and spacious apartments: http://www.stephanielevy.com/berlin-accommodation
To give you the most freedom and flexibility during your stay in Berlin, accommodations are not included in the workshop.
What about our daily meals?
During our weekend workshop days, we'll enjoy healthy snacks + delicious catered lunches. We'll provide vegetarian and vegan alternatives for everyone, and we're happy to take care of any special needs you have due to food allergies.
Berlin is truly a foodie paradise with many talented young chefs who'll delight us with their colorful imaginative lunchtime offerings!
Dinner is on your own, but on Friday and Saturday nights I'll be reserving a table at a casual local restaurant to meet with anyone who'd like to come. Our groups had a great time during evening meals in our past workshops - but if you prefer to relax or go have other Berlin adventures, that's perfectly fine too!
Are you worried about language difficulties in Germany? Don't be :)
Berlin is a very international place these days and just about everyone speaks English. I speak fluent German as well, so we won't have any communications problems on that end either. Designer Christine Gerlach of the Rosenrot Berlin label is our talented studio assistant, and she speaks fluent German and English too.
